Fading From Memory: Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church

Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church is high above Sierra Blanca, Texas. It’s a modern Church built to replace an aging structure closer to I-10. That older Church sits empty and lonely, seeming bereft of hope and a future.

Most Holy Trinity, El Paso

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and kindle in them the fire of Thy love. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth. Let us pray.

Basilica of San Albino

The Basilica originally dates back to 1852, while they constructed the current Church in 1906. The Church is a peaceful oasis, excusing the tourists that wonder through, that draws you in for prayer and a moment to hear the still small voice of God.

Death

My journey led to many Churches, including St George Antiochian Orthodox Church in El Paso, Texas. I had a great conversation with then-pastor Rev. Fr. Hector Abouid. I wanted to share that interview with you so you can understand the Orthodox Church.

Two Franciscan Seminaries & Photos

The Franciscan spirit is one of action, of doing. It is by this spirit, infused into the order by Saint Francis, that guides the Franciscans of today and the future.

The Importance of Prayer

From the beginning, man has attempted to connect with some greater Supernatural Force or Divine Being.  The ancient peoples did this through hymns, songs, thanksgiving, praise, and petition rituals.

How Important is Baptism?

“I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

With those 18 words, on 4 October 2024, I became a member of the Catholic Church and a child of God. Coming from a Jewish background, this was a significant step for me.
